The School Health Service

This is a comprehensive and interestingly written survey oi the School Health Service in this country from its inception in 1907 to the present time. To those who are impatient at the slow processes of growth and fulfilment of the high standards of physical and mental health envisaged, the survey provides a reminder of the achievements of the past half century and of the large part played by local Authorities in carrying out this task. The most provocative chapter for many readers will probably be the first, in which future trends are indicated and the relationship between the School Health Service and the services provided under the National Health Service Act is touched upon. The need for closer cooperation is stressed.
